RAAD. GETTING TO THE GILI ISLANDS FROM LOMBOK is a short 35 minute fast boat ride, right to the island of your choice. But if you have time to spare and you want to experience how the locals live, then jump on the public boats from Bangsal Harbour. Landing in Lombok from overseas and catching a boat to the Gilis on the same day takes some coordination, unless you intend on chartering a speedboat or making a deal with an outrigger boat. The cheapest way to get to the Gilis on the other hand, is on the public boat which costs less than US$1 and departs in the morning at and in afternoon at around If you’re spending the night in Lombok and transferring to the Gilis the next day, then there’s plenty of homestays and hotels in Senggigi, which is 20 minutes away from Bangsal. If you’re travelling in a group of five, then chartering a private speed boat through the Lombok Network might be a good way to go. Especially if your flight lands at an awkward time and you want to get to the Gilis pronto. The charter for a group of five costs US$132 one-way and includes an airport transfer. You can also simply turn up at Teluk Nara or Teluk Kodek and negotiate a price with one of the many outrigger boats there.
